UKRAINE WAR TRUTH 64: U.S. is killing Russian generals by proxy
Superpower rivalry 5: According to the New York Times, the U.S. is providing intelligence to the Ukrainians to help themtarget and kill Russian generals. This means that without this intelligence they wouldn't be able to do it, meaning that the U.S. is directly responsible for killing Russian generals and is therefore at war with Russia. The New York Times adds that “The flow of actionable intelligence on the movement of Russian troops that America has given Ukraine has few precedents”. This “battlefield intelligence” has been kept secret so as not to “provoke Putin into a wider war”. Great, as if Russia didn't know this and now it's even in the newspaper. Not to say that you should believe everything that is published in a newspaper, but the Russians might believe t if their own intelligence points in the same direction or simply because they choose to believe it as its suits them as a pretext for escalation.
The New York Times also writes that “American officials […] have been debating for weeks why Mr. Putin has not done more to escalate the conflict”. According to some reports, the U.S. is keeping some things secret so as not to provoke Russia to escalate the war. It seems to me the opposite is true. The U.S. might not publicly confirm some of the news but they are also adept at leaking bits of information that might be useful to toad Russia to escalate. The U.S. wants a wider war but doesn't want to be seen as provoking one. Therefore it is doing everything it can to lure Putin into another trap, up to and including the use of tactical weapons.
Hypocritically the U.S. “prohibits itself from providing intelligence about the most senior Russian leaders”. But if they have the intelligence, they could use it whenever they choose. More deviously, they provide this information to the Ukrainians, who then decide “independently” to target those Russian generals. U.S. warmongers may try to hide behind the backs of the Ukrainians, but they are fully responsible for the death of Russian generals. We already knew for some time that the U.S. was waging war, but this news puts it in the spotlight.
Ukraine claims to have killed 12 Russian generals although this has not been independently confirmed, and Ukraine doesn't say a word about how many of their own generals have been killed. Always exaggerating the losses of the adversary is ridiculous. It may give you confidence, but even more so overconfidence, which might be deadly in war.
On May 6 it was also reported that the U.S. provided intel on the location of the Moskva cruiser, which Ukraine targeted with cruise missiles causing it to sink to the bottom of the Black Sea. Again, U.S. officials claim that they only provided some intel to their Ukrainian friends, and they themselves decided to target the Moskva. How convenient that the Ukrainians always seem to independently do what the U.S. wants them to do.
Putin is responsible for the aggression against Ukraine, but if this escalates, it will be the responsibility of the U.S.
